Hand Wash Only
Wash your wooden spoon with warm, soapy water immediately after use. Avoid soaking it in water for too long, as this can cause the wood to warp or crack.
Avoid Dishwashers
Dishwashers expose wooden spoons to excessive moisture and heat, which can lead to cracking, warping, or fading. Always hand wash to preserve its quality.
Dry Thoroughly
After washing, dry the spoon thoroughly with a clean towel. Let it air dry completely before storing to prevent mold or mildew.
Condition Regularly
Every few weeks, rub a food-safe oil, beeswax, or specialized wood conditioning oil onto the spoon to keep it hydrated and prevent cracking. Let the oil sit for a few hours or overnight, then wipe off any excess.
Store Properly
Store your spoon in a dry place. Avoid humid environments, which can promote mold, and ensure it’s not stored in a spot that could receive direct heat, such as near a stove.
With proper care, a quality wooden spoon can last for years!
